ANTI-RAGGING POLICIES

In view of the directions of the Honorable Supreme Court in SLP No. 24295 of 2006,
dated 16-05-2007, and in Civil Appeal number 887 of 2009, dated 08-05-2009, to prohibit,
prevent and eliminate the scourge of ragging and consequent Regulations of the All
India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), ragging is banned in the institution
and any one indulging in ragging is likely to be punished appropriately. The action
shall include:
- Filing of First Information Report (FIR) with the local Police Station.
- The Anti-Ragging Committee of the institution shall take appropriate decision, with
regard to punishment or otherwise, depending on the facts of each incident of ragging
and nature and gravity of the incident of ragging.
- Depending upon the nature and gravity of the offence, the possible punishments for
those found guilty of ragging shall be one or any combination of the following :
- Cancellation of admission
- Suspension from attending classes
- Withholding/withdrawing scholarship
- Debarring from appearing in test/examination
- Suspension/expulsion from the hostel
- Withholding results
- Rustication from the institution for period ranging from 1 to 6 semesters.

1.Students and parents are advised to refer to the AICTE notification dated 01/07/2009 pertaining to Prevention and Prohibition of Ragging in technical Institutions.

2.. If there be any legislation governing ragging or any provisions in the Statute Ordinances they shall be brought to the notice of the students' parents seeking admissions.
